Conditions Treated with Chiropractic Care

Disc injuries

Disc injuries, also commonly called “disc bulges”, “slipped discs” or “disc herniations” involve damage of the outer fibrous portion of the disc located between the vertebrae. This allows the inner gel portion of the disc to push through and irritate surrounding structures. Disc injuries often result in spinal pain and stiffness and in some cases pain into the shoulders and arms, buttocks and legs. Chiropractic care will potentially involve x-rays as well as referral for MRI in severe cases.

Joint pain

Joint pain, including that as a result of inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis can be eased through chiropractic care. In such cases, gentle adjustments or mobilisations are combined with soft tissue therapy, exercise and diet management.

Chiropractors are able to effectively manage muscle and ligament strains through a variety of techniques, such as massage, pressure point therapy, dry needling and stretching therapy. Overall biomechanics and muscle imbalances will also be considered and rehabilitation exercises often implemented.
